Overdue Notifications & Fines
Items are officially considered overdue if they are not returned by 7 days after the due date.
- Notifications: Patrons receive alerts via email, text, or mail based on their accou
nt preferences. If no preference is selected, notices are sent to the email address on file. - Fines: The Library does not charge traditional overdue fines. However, a “Conscience Jar” is located at the check-in desk for those who wish to make a voluntary contribution.
Long Overdue & Lost Items
Items not returned within 30 days of the due date are classified as Long Overdue.
- Account Status: Borrowing privileges are automatically suspended for any account with a Long Overdue item.
- Resolution: Our primary goal is the safe return of materials. All associated charges will be waived immediately upon the return of the item.
Lost Item Charges
If an item is not returned, patrons are responsible for the full replacement cost.
Note: Once a lost item has been paid for, the Library cannot issue a refund, even if the item is later found.
Damaged Items
Patrons are responsible for the replacement cost of materials returned damaged beyond repair.
- Notification: The Library will notify the patron of the damage and the replacement cost via phone or in person.
- Suspension of Privileges: Borrowing privileges are suspended if an account has a balance of $10 or more or an active Long Overdue item.
Restoring Your Account
To return to “Good Standing” and resume borrowing, patrons must:
- Return all Long Overdue items, OR
- Pay in full for any lost or damaged materials.
Once the items are back or the balance is settled, full access to library services will be restored.
