The San Juan Island Library is delighted to offer two different StoryWalk® experiences this Summer in partnership with Island Rec and with funding from The Women’s Fund of SJICF. A StoryWalk® is a wonderful way for children and adults to enjoy reading while exploring outdoor spaces.
At the Family Park & Playground, go on a playful adventure while reading Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea. At the John O. Linde Community Park you can take a break and read the inspiring bilingual story Galápagos Girl/Galapagueña. Both stories fit within our Summer Reading Program 2022 theme: Oceans of Possibilities!

About Valentina
Valentina Cruz was born in the Galápagos, Ecuador, in 1971. She and her family have always cared about and been involved in the protection of the Galápagos Islands. After the events described in this book, Valentina went to college in Cuba to study biology. When she finished school she returned to the Galápagos to work on conservation projects and be a nature guide. In that role she could share her knowledge about the animals of the Galápagos with visitors! Later she moved to Australia where she lives with her husband and children. She currently owns and runs a business called Remote Island Expeditions.
