ILL- Interlibrary Loans

INTERLIBRARY  LOANS  PARTIALLY REINSTATED

If you placed a request before our closure and did not receive the item before we closed the building or it wasn’t sent to you during the closure, you will need to resubmit that request.

Please note that we will initially limit this service to one (1) item per person instead of our customary three (3). Because of the continued pandemic, fewer libraries are loaning their materials and there may be significant delays.

Thank you for your understanding.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN (ILL) @ your library

Interlibrary Loan, or ILL, allows you to search for and request to borrow items in thousands of other libraries throughout the United States.  Requests for ILL items will be limited to one (1) requests per patron at any one time. Requests over one (1) may be canceled without notice.  If you need more than one (1) items at a time, please contact the director or the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator.  This service is free unless a lending library charges.  If an item is not available for free, but only for a charge, the Library will contact you to obtain approval.

PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST NEW RELEASES THROUGH INTERLIBARY LOAN.  If you would like to borrow a new item published within the last 12 months, please submit a SUGGEST A PURCHASE form instead of an interlibrary loan request.

Due to considerable cost in terms of staff time and postage, the Library adheres to the following guidelines:

Types of materials available to borrow through interlibrary loan:

  1. Books
  2. Audiobooks
  3. DVDs – Feature Films and Documentaries
  4. Photocopies of articles from magazines, newspapers, and journals
  5. Some genealogy materials

Types of materials not available to borrow through Interlibrary Loan:

  1. Items the Library already owns or is ordering
  2. New items published or released within the last 12 months based on availability at lending libraries
  3. Journal, magazine, or newspaper articles available through our online library databases
  4. Downloadable content, electronic resources, or computer games
  5. Textbooks
  6. Whole issues of magazines or newspapers
  7. Some genealogy materials

If you’d like to renew an ILL item, please contact the Library on or shortly before the date that the item is due. Some libraries do not renew interlibrary loans.
