Overdue Notification & Fines
Items are considered to be Overdue if they have not been returned by 7 days after the due date. Patrons are notified of overdue items either by email or mail depending on their preference. If no preference has been explicitly stated and an email address has been provided, notices are sent via email.
The Library does not specify or charge overdue fines for any materials but a conscience jar located at the check-in desk allows patrons to self-administer their own fines if they feel inclined.
Long Overdue or Lost Items
Items are considered to be Long Overdue if they have not been returned by 30 days after the due date. If you have an item which is considered Long Overdue your account privileges will be suspended. Patrons are notified of Long Overdue items via a notice sent either by email or mail depending on their preference. If no preference has been explicitly stated and an email address has been provided, notices are sent via email. The notice informs the patron of the replacement cost of the item and that all charges will be waived with the safe return of the item, which is always our preferred outcome.
Lost Items
For items that are not returned, a replacement charge will be placed on the patron account.
Patrons with an outstanding balance of $10 or more, or items that are Long Overdue can no longer check out materials. Once the item(s) is/are returned or FULL payment received, the patron is again in good standing and may resume borrowing privileges.
Fines for Damaged Items
Patrons are charged for the replacement cost of materials that are returned damaged beyond repair. Patrons are notified by phone or in person of the damaged item and of the replacement cost. Patrons with an outstanding balance of $10 or more can no longer check out materials. Once FULL payment for the damaged item is received, the patron is again in good standing and may resume borrowing privileges.
