Victoria and Lily Compton: Gongfu Cha, Saturday, October 5 at 7 pm
October 5 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
The Gongfu Cha (“making tea with skill”) ceremonial method of preparing tea originated in Chaozhou, China, during the Song Dynasty (960-1279 CE) and was introduced throughout Asia, including Japan, over subsequent centuries. Gongfu Cha ceremonies are still practiced in China today, particularly for weddings, in family settings, and for business meetings. Join tea ambassadors Victoria and Lily Compton for a look at the history and culture of the Gongfu Cha ritual and to experience a cup of Oolong tea, prepared in the traditional manner.
Refreshments are courtesy of Victoria and Lily and the Friends of the Library.
