Art Shows in the Library
The San Juan Island Public Library is starting to decorate its walls with Citizen Art. This means that on the designated days anyone, amateur, beginner, professional and talented children can bring in art in keeping with the theme for that time period. Our job is to hang it up for all to see and enjoy until the next pick up-drop off date.
This way the whole community can enjoy a changing panorama of art at the library. We encourage everyone to participate.
Compared the the wall spaces available years ago, today's remodeled library has smaller walls. Thus, we don't have space for very many large works of art. On your next trip in to the library, look around and see if you have created art that the rest of us can enjoy.
Attention Quilters!
Start preparing for the January 23 art quilt show at the San Juan Public Library on Guard Street. The quilts will be hung on the walls for the public to enjoy. The art committee will be accepting them on that Saturday from 10 am to noon. The wall space in the library does not allow for the display of large quilts, so please check out the space in advance, if you like. Generally, quilt the size of 24 or more inches wide by about 20 -28 inches tall will work best. There is plenty of horizontal space. Quilt artists begin! Questions? Call Diane at 370-5814
Bring your art to the San Juan Public Library for the holiday display of public art. The theme of Winter Wonderland is to include all media and winter, snow and holiday subjects. Please bring your art, ready to hang, in on Saturday, January 23rd from 10 am to noon. All artists who loaned art for the September-October show, please pick up your pieces at that time. Questions?
