Make a difference – be a Reading Buddy!
Help cultivate the love of reading by reading with a child, and having a child read to you! Sign up now to volunteer, and attend our Reading Buddy Orientation session on Saturday, December 6th from 4:30-5:30 in the Meeting Room. Call or email Adrienne Bourne 378-2798 abourne@sjlib.org if you have questions. Stop by the Library today to pick up a volunteer form!
Sponsored by the Friday Harbor Elementary School and the San Juan Island Library, the Reading Buddies Program matches adult volunteers with elementary school students in need of reading encouragement. Volunteer reading buddies should be willing and able to commit at least 1/2 hour per week during the school year to work with their student reader either at the elementary school or at the public library. For more information, call Adrienne Bourne at 378-2798 or email Gary Pflueger, Principal, Friday Harbor Elementary School, at gpflueger@sjisd.wednet.edu. Help a student improve reading skills! |
