San Juan Island Library announces Bookmark Contest

The San Juan Island Library and the Friends of the San Juan Island Library will sponsor a bookmark design contest for the library. The contest is open to elementary school-age children on San Juan Island (K-5). The design should illustrate the love of books and libraries with a picture and slogan. Contest begins April 15 and the deadline is May 15. Blank bookmarks will be delivered to the local elementary school on April 15^th. Other eligible participants may pick up entry blanks at the San Juan Island Library. Four winners will be announced the first week of June 1999 and officially acknowledged at the first summer reading program the third week of June. The top three entries will be printed as the official bookmarks of the San Juan Island Library from June 1999 to June 2000. Winners will receive a gift certificate for a book of their choice. Winners and 10 honorable mentions will be on display at the San Juan Library during the month of June. Call the library for more information.
