Marvelous Mollusk Shells with Yasmin von Dassow, Ph.D. Thursday, November 9 from 3-4 pm

Come learn about the art and science of snails and their shells! This will be a hands-on exploration of the amazing diversity of shell shapes, colors, and patterns in the ocean.

Whether you think snails are awesome or gross, you will find something new and amazing to love about them.

Yasmin von Dassow, Ph.D., is a marine invertebrate biologist who lives on San Juan Island. She loves slimy ocean creatures of all sorts, especially snails and slugs, and she loves to tell other people about them. She earned her doctorate from Duke University and has worked at the Friday Harbor Labs off and on for many years.
